The GSD, which is signalled through Energy Queensland’s Audio Frequency Load Control (AFLC) system, allows Ergon or Energex to stop the output from an IES, such as rooftop solar PV or batteries. Energex and Ergon will use this diconnect embedded generators at the direction of the AEMO in emergency situations to ensure the security of electricity supply across their network.
Generation signalling device (GSD) is to only be used by AEMO where other netowkr management options have been exhausted.
Where is a GSD required?
A GSD is required in all Ergon or Energex IES sites where connection offers or contracts are exepted after 6 February 2023. It does not matter the date which the connection application was submitted or the offer was provided.
