Energy Sustainability Reporting Requirements Explained

The Corporations Act 2001 (Corporations Act) stipulates in s296A(1) that the sustainability report for a financial year must include:

  • The year’s climate statements;
  • Any remarks made regarding the climate statements;
  • The directors’ statement regarding the notes and statements.
Statements on the Climate
Section 336A of the Corporations Act mandates that climate statements adhere to the pertinent sustainability standards established by the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB). These mandatory sustainability standards are anticipated to be released soon by the AASB.

What You Should Look for in an Energy Monitoring System

  • Real-time Insights: Users can track usage trends, spot inefficiencies, and make quick decisions thanks to real-time insights into energy consumption provided by sophisticated energy monitoring systems.
  • Wireless Connectivity: Although the majority of electrical metering systems are wired, some are wireless, making on-site installation and commissioning simple and reducing the strain on your current infrastructure.
  • Accuracy: Strive for a high degree of precision, that is. Class 1 calibrated electricity monitors offer detailed information for the best possible energy management.
  • Simple Data Integration: Select a system that is simple to integrate with any current BMS (Building Management System) and your preferred energy management platform. This will facilitate the identification of waste, anomalies, high-energy-consuming assets, trends in energy consumption, and areas for energy efficiency improvement.
  • Remote Monitoring Features: To help with effective energy management, sophisticated Internet of Things electricity usage monitoring systems provide the ability to remotely control and modify energy-consuming devices.
  • Scalability: Most IoT energy monitoring systems are scalable, meaning you can grow the system as needed to accommodate the expanding size and complexity of your business or group structure.
  • Security: In order to make sure you are protecting the data of your company from any possible compromise, it is imperative that you confirm that the system you have selected provides data security from sensor to server.
